ARGUMENT & PRESENTATION OF THE ENCOUNTER Toulouse · March 15, 2025 & October 3, 2026

The Toulouse encounters bring together works conducted within “Lacan’s Wager” and the “Open-Air Cartels of the Cardo”. The experience of clinical presentations and cartels directly confronts participants with the dynamic and surprising dimension of the signifier.

Interventions investigate on the one hand the diachronic difference proper to the signifier as illuminated by the position of psychosis (drawing on Seminar III, Identification, and Christian Fierens’s Logic of the Unconscious), and on the other hand the central field of jouissance, the object a, and the figure of Tiresias in Seminar X (Anxiety).

A return to the March 20, 1963 lesson of Seminar X (Anxiety), where Lacan elevates Tiresias to “patron saint of psychoanalysts”: three approaches to the seer (Ovid, Apollinaire, T.S. Eliot) to question detumescence, minus-phi, and the central field of jouissance.
